Why interested? When people see sewage and garbage, they are afraid to avoid them. However, many people do not know about sludge and leachate, and many places do not attach importance to the treatment of sludge and leachate, resulting in great potential pollution.
Sewage treatment will produce sludge. Sludge with high water content will produce leachate. After landfill, leachate will also be produced. These sludge and turbidity contain a lot of pollutants. If the sludge is not treated (temporarily stacked) or improperly treated (simply landfilled), if the leachate is allowed to infiltrate into the ground, it will not only occupy a large amount of land resources, but also harm groundwater and soil.
How is Langfang made? Zhang Weidong, Director of the Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau, introduced that during the "Eleventh Five Year Plan" period, the city invested more than 50 million yuan in calcium solidification treatment of sludge generated by 15 sewage treatment plants, and invested 28 million yuan in the construction of six landfill leachate treatment centers, which effectively centralized treatment of the city's leachate, avoiding secondary pollution caused by sludge and leachate.
The first sewage treatment plant in Langfang City was completed and put into operation 10 years ago, and is currently operated by Langfang Kaifa Xinquan Water Co., Ltd. This plant produces 25 tons of sludge with water content less than 60% every day. These originally smelly and black sludge, after being solidified with calcium, become gray white, odorless granular mud lumps.
"The treatment technology is not complicated, mainly adding quicklime." A staff member of Keyvia explained that quicklime has a disinfection effect, which can kill bacteria in the sludge; Quicklime will generate heat when encountering water, which can evaporate water in sludge.
The water plant invested more than 6 million yuan in this sludge disposal equipment, which was completed and put into operation in late October last year. Previously, Keyvia had to pull the sludge generated every day to a landfill 10 kilometers away, and the landfill was unwilling to accept the money; Now there is no odor after drying, and the landfill is willing to accept and treat it. At the same time, the fees paid to landfill sites are lower than in the past. The government did not explicitly compensate Keyvia for these investments, but said that it would balance the cost of the enterprise by adjusting the water price to prevent the enterprise from suffering losses.
Can the treated sludge be reused? "We have done experiments. It can be used as an additive in brick making, and we are also trying to find a partner to use it as backfill in the project. The brick factory in Langfang does not approve of this thing. A brick factory in Cangzhou is willing to take it, but the freight is too high. We are still looking for partners," said the staff.
Then look at leachate treatment. The leachate treatment center of Langfang waste treatment plant was put into trial operation in September last year, and has passed the environmental protection acceptance. It can treat 60 tons of leachate every day. After entering the treatment workshop and walking through various pipes, I could only hear the humming of machines, but could not smell any peculiar smell.
The person in charge here said that there is a leachate collection pool in the landfill, and the leachate is pulled to the disposal center by a special vehicle, first poured into a large covered pool, and then sent to the treatment equipment through pipes. After treatment, most of the liquid turns into clear water, which can be used to water trees and sprinkle roads. A small part of the concentrated liquid is sent back to the garbage dump for adsorption and degradation.
In the eyes of some people, the construction of sewage treatment plants and landfills is a visible achievement or "face saving", while the disposal of sludge and leachate is a hidden achievement or "lining" that is not easy to see. Why does Langfang value both "face" and "interior"?
At the beginning of 2006, Langfang became the first national environmental protection model city in Hebei Province. On December 27, 2010, Langfang became the first prefecture level city in China to pass the on-site review of the national environmental protection model city. "What we want is a real environmental protection model city. We can't just talk about 'face', regardless of 'interior'," said Zhang Weidong.
"In the final analysis, it is the Municipal Party Committee and the Municipal Government that attach importance to environmental protection and work hard." Zhang Weidong said that the municipal leaders often said that from the perspective of location, Langfang, from the south to the north, half package Tianjin in the south, and half package Beijing in the north. Langfang cannot have problems with the environment.
